Please pray for our newest language production, Quechua, which will eventually air in Bolivia, Peru, and Paraguay. While they have a full team working on the translation and production, Diego Davila will be the face and voice of the TTB Quechua ministry. They have begun work on the translation and recordings, but radio broadcasting cannot begin until six months of programming have been completed. Praise God that we already have a number of stations lined up. Pray also that the hearts of the Quechua-speaking people in these countries will be softened and prepared for the gospel.

Those of you who regularly listen to the broadcast or subscribe to our podcast from ttb.org are well aware that we began experiencing some online broadcasting problems several months ago. This was due to some changes outside of our control that were made by the ministry partner responsible for our online broadcasts. While the majority of these problems have been resolved, please pray that the last remaining glitches will be fixed quickly so that everyone who desires to have access to the program using modern media devices will be able to do so easily and without complication. This has been an exceptionally frustrating time for both our listeners and our staff, so please remember to also pray for patience and understanding on both sides. Online outreach has become such an important and effective part of this ministry, and we all want the same thing: For everything to be running smoothly once again so that God’s Word can go out unhindered!

Please pray for Joe Fort, our TWR coordinator, as he travels this month to Africa for meetings with various producers and follow-up teams who work on the TTB broadcasts and minister to our African listeners. He’ll be in South Africa, Kenya, and hopefully will be able to make it to Burundi as well. Pray for safety in his travels, good health and stamina, and for God’s blessing over the time he spends with our faithful ministry partners in Africa. May it be an encouraging, spirit-lifting, and educational time for everyone involved.

Please remember our Kabyle producer (whose name we cannot share due to security reasons) before the Great Physician, as he has a severe form of diabetes and was hospitalized for a time earlier this summer.
-
Praise God for our Low German producer’s completion of the 5-year TTB production! As you may have read here in past issues, Elmer Reimer and his wife have suffered declining health over the last couple of years, and their persistent prayer has been that Elmer would be able to complete the series. Join us in thanking God for seeing Elmer through to the completion of his goal and for blessings to abound on him and his family for his faithfulness in serving our Lord.

Please pray for the large church in Osaka, Japan, that a few months ago took on the responsibility of handling listener follow-up for us. They’ve also been promoting the program, so pray that it attracts many Japanese listeners and that through it they may fall deeper in love with Jesus.

Most Muslim listeners in the Middle East rely heavily on the use of emails or telephone calls through the Internet to respond to Christian radio programming, including our programs. We know that mail and phone calls made to TWR over regular phone lines are monitored very closely by the government authorities of these countries. A recent news release from Egypt reports that Egypt has banned mobile calls made through VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services such as Skype, which bypass telephone networks by allowing free calls to be made over the Internet. The United Arab Emirates has also announced that they will not grant licenses to companies such as Skype. This will most certainly affect our listener response from the Middle East. Please pray for a loosening of these restrictions and also that the new laws will not hinder believers and seekers of the truth from reaching out for help, guidance, and fellowship.

Recently TWR was contacted by a Christian radio station in Cameroon that expressed interest in airing our French broadcast. Formerly a German colony that was divided between France and Britain after World War I, Cameroon holds both English and French as its official languages. Join us in praying that this new broadcast outlet will bless the French-speaking believers of Cameroon and deliver the gospel clearly to those who need to hear the truth of God’s Word.

In May the power of the medium-wave station in Estonia that airs our Russian program increased to 200kW. This upgrade not only improves the strength of the signal but also provides excellent coverage throughout the more heavily-populated portion of Russia west of the Ural mountain range. Praise God that more souls now have access to Thru the Bible and other Christian programming!

The appointments earlier this year of more militant Muslim government leaders has resulted in increased persecution of churches, individual Christians, and missionaries in Morocco. Foreign evangelicals have been expelled from the country, and Christian Moroccans have been arrested and interrogated – the charge is that they are proselytizing and attempting to convert people from Islam. Because TWR broadcasts the Kabyle program from outside the country, our programs are not in jeopardy; most of the impact is on the listeners themselves. Because the mail is monitored by the government, the primary way listeners respond to the program is through Internet cafes. Pray that the government will not move to limit or deny this method of communication as well.
-
Pray for our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted in some parts of the Arab world because of their faith and ministry, that the Lord would give them peace and sustain them. Praise God that we are receiving contacts from closed countries in that region and that people are listening to the Arabic programs and asking questions. Pray for more fruit to come of the broadcasts and for wisdom in following up with these listeners.

The year 2010 has brought many devastating natural disasters –earthquakes, floods, mudslides – to numerous parts of the world, everywhere from Asia to Mexico. Please continue to pray for all those in the affected areas. We’re especially grateful that God has seen to it to preserve the means necessary to continue broadcasting the program into these devastated areas, even during the worst of times. Pray, too, for the producers and follow-up staff members who live and serve in these communities. They are in need of our Lord’s divine wisdom and strength as they faithfully serve the least of God’s children.

Please pray for TWR’s staff person stationed in Chile as he leads the ministry there. The TWR office in Chile was reduced to rubble during the February earthquake, though praise God no one was killed or injured in its collapse. After the quake and in addition to continuing its usual programming – including Thru the Bible in Spanish –TWR offered post-disaster help programming just as it did following the Haiti earthquake. Please pray also that the people of Chile will find hope, encouragement, and salvation in the midst of all the devastation.
-
Pray for people all over the world who listen to Thru the Bible and, through their exposure to sound Bible teaching, are led by the Holy Spirit to accept Christ as their Savior – especially those living in areas where to do so puts them and their families at great risk. Pray that they will grow in their newfound faith and find connection with other believers in their areas.

Summer is fast approaching, and it’s always a time of decreased communication from our listeners – both in correspondence and orders or donations. We hope you’re always praying that God would continue to bless this ministry of His Word and provide the means for us to continue sending the gospel message out in over 100 languages worldwide, but in the summer months your prayers to this effect are especially valuable to us! Thank you for partnering with us in your prayers and giving.

Continue to pray for the people of Haiti, TWR, and their two partner stations – Radio 4VEH and Radio Lumiere – as they broadcast messages of hope to those who have suffered so much loss. Since the February earthquake, TWR has been airing Creole music, specially-produced help programs, and TTB from Bonaire until Radio Lumiere is able to resume broadcasting to Port-au-Prince.
-
Please pray for George Philip, our TTB Malayalam producer and the new interim Director of TWR-India. He took over that important position in February after the retirement of Vinita Shaw. Pray for George, the staff, and TWR’s ongoing ministry to India during this transition and the search for a permanent replacement.
-
Please pray that all of our listeners around the world will find encouragement through the programs and strength to walk with the Lord faithfully, even while facing difficulties. Praise the Lord, especially, for listeners from different religious backgrounds who have accepted Christ through hearing God’s Word and are now determined to evangelize their own families and nations!
-
Praise that the decision to switch from shortwave to local FM broadcasting of our Nepali program has proven to be the right choice, as it has been very effective in reaching people in Nepal. Join us in praying that God would continue to direct our leadership and producers, granting them His wisdom as decisions are made each day that impact how and where the broadcast is heard all over the world.
